This documentary film was produced in-house at BIMCO and explores the current state of ship recycling in Alang, India, and the circular economy that surrounds it.

Shot on location in Alang and Bhavnagar, India, the documentary explores the current state of ship recycling and the circular economy connected to one of the world’s most important ship recycling regions. The film follows visits to ship recycling yards, steel mills, worker housing, local markets and downstream industries to show what happens when ships reach the end of their working lives.

My role covered the full creative and technical production process. I was responsible for the film’s creative direction, camera work, editing, colour grading, sound mix and final delivery. This meant taking the project from on-location filming through to a finished 36-minute documentary, as well as preparing shorter chapter versions for social media distribution.

The project required a fast and flexible production approach, careful editorial judgement and a complete in-house post-production workflow. The result is a documentary that combines cinematic visuals, interviews and observational storytelling to highlight a complex industry that is often overlooked.
